METAR
The routine coded weather observation issued for an aerodrome, normally every half hour or hour.
A METAR packs wind, visibility, cloud, temperature, dew point, pressure and significant weather into one dense line, in a format that is the same worldwide. Spotters read them for the two facts that decide a session: the wind, which sets the runway in use, and the cloud base, which sets the light.
