taxiway
A paved route connecting runways, aprons and stands, on which aircraft move under their own power.
Taxiways are lettered, centrelined in green lighting and edged in blue, and their layout dictates how long an aircraft is visible between the stand and the runway. A rapid-exit taxiway leaves the runway at a shallow angle so a landing aircraft can clear it without slowing to walking pace.
