A circular polariser is rotated to taste and costs one to two stops. It kills glare off a fuselage and off wet pavement and darkens the sky most at ninety degrees to the sun — which is also why it can leave an uneven sky behind a wide lens. It cannot be simulated afterwards, unlike almost every other filter.
