bracketing

Bracketing is the insurance policy for a scene whose dynamic range exceeds the sensor's: a dark aircraft under a bright sky, or a floodlit apron at dusk. It only works on a subject that holds still between frames, which rules out most of aviation and makes it a ramp and terminal technique.
